Candidates for Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a procedure that reduces the length of the labia minora. It is also known as a vaginal rejuvenation procedure. Candidates include women who experience pain or discomfort in their labia – often when riding a bike, engaging in intercourse, or even zipping skinny jeans. Other candidates include those who feel embarrassed by the size of their labia and feel that it inhibits them sexually.
There are several ways to perform a Labiaplasty depending on your treatment goals. A trim procedure removes and sews up extra tissue. The wedge procedure maintains a natural border after a pie-shaped piece of tissue has been removed. Extra folds of the clitoral hood can also be reduced. Closure is usually done with absorbable sutures.
The treatment area will be swollen for several days and most people take about a week off of work after a Labiaplasty procedure. Strenuous physical activity, sexual intercourse, and wearing tampons should be avoided for four to six weeks. Labiaplasty typically results in shorter labia and according to multiple studies, labiaplasty surgery is associated with a high satisfaction rate of over 90 percent.
